Pumpkin seeds are often referred to as pepitas and come from the pumpkin gourd. These delicious and nutrient dense seeds have been domesticated to 8,000-10,000 BCE and belong to the Curcurbita family. The Curcurbita vines are native to Mesoamerica and the Andes. They are a good source of beta carotene which aids in eye and skin health and has a high content of Vitamin E which helps to strengthen the immune system.
