Flaxseeds (linseed) come from the flax plant which is a small bush that grows to an average of two feet tall and has baby blue flowers. Flax has been used by humans for thousands of years for a wide variety of purposes including the ubiquitous fabric called ‘linen’ which was even found in the tombs of Egyptian pharaohs and is referenced in both the Bible and Homer's Odyssey. Flaxseeds have been used as a folk remedy since ancient times.
